Self-hosting and Browser Access

Self-hosted by design

Run the application and its web server in your own environment

YouDoSoftware combines the business application, database and web interface in one self-hosted installation for Windows or Mac.

A single user can work in a browser on the application computer. A team can use the same browser interface over the local network, avoiding a separate client installation on each user's computer. The application is lightweight and does not require a powerful computer to provide this local browser access.

What self-hosting changes

  • Your organisation chooses the computer or server that runs YouDoSoftware.
  • Users work through a browser on supported computers.
  • Day-to-day local use does not depend on exposing the application to the public internet.
  • Remote access can be introduced separately when the business needs it.

Start with the requirement

Local use, continuous remote service or access only when needed

Application computer

A straightforward choice for an individual or small team that can keep the installation on a suitable Windows PC or Mac.

Local network

Provide browser access to users working on the same network while keeping normal traffic within the organisation. Because YouDoSoftware is lightweight, this does not require a powerful server or computer.

Remote access

Use a suitable cloud server or Cloudflare Tunnel when users need to reach the system from outside the local network. A cloud-hosted installation should sit behind a reverse proxy such as Nginx.

Access from elsewhere

Add remote availability without changing the application

The deployment choice does not create a different product edition. The browser interface and shared YouDoSoftware records remain the same whether users connect locally or remotely.

Web Publish provides the Cloudflare-based route for organisations that want to run YouDoSoftware locally and make it available remotely when required.
